The Future of BTS - Fantasy


With the GMTK game jam soon drawing to a close, I will soon have the ability to update the game outside of the jam conditions.
So, what is the plan?

I have already begun a rewrite of the game, cleaning up spaghetti code, and adding quality of life improvements.
A big issue the game currently has is how it presents information to the player, or the lack of doing so.
This is a big focus on the update I am working on. The goal is a cleaner, easier to understand experience.
I also hope to update playing with your models. Right now its just a deathmatch, making spearmen the best option for any battle.
This will be changing.
I will be reworking almost all of it, adding objectives, point costs to models, and more opportunities for strategy.
I am also taking some time to redesign and add more units. Originally most of the units were made in the last 6 hours before I posted the game originally. Now, I am taking my time to create something closer to my original vision. The updated spearman is the cover image for this post.
That includes adding factions, which will hopefully add a lot more diversity to gameplay.

All of this does mean there will be a very minor update posted to fix some of the most glaring issues, these bigger changes wont be coming for a little bit. Though I am excited to continue to develop this game, and work towards a full release.
